Below is the CIRCULAR to all Medical Rehabilitation Therapists in Nigeria.

The Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria (MRTB), established by Decree 38 of 1988/Acts M9 LFN 2004, for the regulation and control of training and practice of Physiotherapy, and other Medical Rehabilitation Therapy Professions in the Health Sector in Nigeria is embarking on quackery control and eradication in Physiotherapy & other Medical Rehabilitation Therapy professional practice in Nigeria. To this end, the following teams have been appointed with the team members indicated below:-

Surveillance Team Members

The teams are saddled with the responsibility of verifying Physiotherapists and other Medical Rehabilitation Therapists to ascertain that they possess current practicing licence of the Board MRTB. This is in accordance with section 15:1 of the Board’s enabling laws which forbid the practice of physiotherapy and other Medical Rehabilitation Therapy Professions without a current licence to practice.

Anyone found under this category (i.e. without a current licence) is being regarded as a quack and the team is empowered to take appropriate measure(s) in line with the medico-legal attributes of the Board MRTB on the individual defaulter.
